Ingredients

  • 1 large Granny Smith apple
  • 1 large Red Delicious apple
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 80 g (⅓ cup or 3 oz) raisins
  • 80 g (⅓ cup or 3 oz) chopped walnuts
  • 80 g (⅓ cup or 3 oz) chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 6 large leaves lettuce
  • 10 halved maraschino cherries

Procedure

  1. Slice the apples into wedges, and place in a bowl.
  2. Pour lemon juice on the apple wedges, and ensure a light coating to prevent browning.
  3. Plump the raisins by placing them in warm water for 5 minutes, then drain well.
  4. Mix celery, raisins, and walnuts into the bowl of apple wedges.
  5. Mix the mayonnaise and sugar together, then pour into the apple mixture, ensuring a light coating on all items.
  6. Chill for at least 30 minutes
  7. Place 3 lettuce leaves on a large plate and three on another, place half of the mixture on each set of leaves, and sprinkle 5 cherries on each salad.
  8. Serve
